A clown and a dog are walking on Earth. They come to a building with a surprising sign out front. Entering, they discover many dials, switches, levers, and other apparatus. Experimentation begins
immediately, and it is learned that the devices have many dramatic and even dangerous effects. The clown argues vehemently against
irresponsible use of this equipment. The dog is recalcitrant and
engages a mechanism against the express wishes of the clown. At this time the weather takes a turn for the worse as massive electrical
charges in the atmosphere begin discharging, and periodically continue to do so throughout our story. The sun rises, blotting out the night. A comet strikes. Night falls again. The clown begins to fear for the consequences of the dog's actions and prays for safety. A strange religious vision quickly follows. Meanwhile, the dog experiences inappropriate harassment during a major earthquake, and nearly falls into a newly opened chasm. The dangerous phenomena continue as the clown witnesses the eruption of what at first appears to be a volcano, but turns out not to be. The dog violently confronts his antagonist and prevails. The continuing procession of disturbances culminates in a moment of all-out chaos in the minds of the clown and the dog. From a windowsill, the clown is able to observe the difficulties of the local citizenry. The ground itself continues to upheave with greater and greater force, making it impossible to keep one's footing. Ultimately skyscrapers begin to topple, a tidal wave rolls in, and all of civilization seems to come crashing down. In desperation, the clown and the dog each return to their shared home, and are reunited for one last terrible moment.
